Alex Williams Returns to Outlaw Country Roots with New EP 'Discount Country'

Alex Williams, an artist who garnered significant attention with his 2017 outlaw country debut, is set to release a fresh collection of music. Following a recent exploration into hair-metal covers with his album 'Space Brain,' Williams is now returning to his distinctive country sound.
His upcoming five-track EP, titled 'Discount Country,' is scheduled for release on Friday. The EP features a twangy, outlaw-influenced style, reminiscent of his earlier work. One of the featured tracks, 'Time on His Hands,' was exclusively premiered by Rolling Stone, offering a glimpse into the EP's authentic country vibe. Williams himself noted that the title 'Discount Country' playfully reflects the collection of older country-style songs he unearthed for the project.
Williams recorded 'Discount Country' with producer Ben Fowler, focusing on songs penned in 2024, immediately after concluding his 'Space Brain' sessions. He will embark on a tour later this month, with a particular focus on his home region of the Midwest, where his musical journey began, encompassing both classic outlaw country and the iconic rock sounds of the 1980s.
Alex Williams' journey exemplifies artistic versatility while maintaining a strong connection to his musical roots. His return to outlaw country not only pleases long-time fans but also showcases his evolution as an artist who respects traditional sounds while embracing new influences. His dedication to crafting meaningful music, regardless of genre, serves as an inspiration for aspiring musicians.
