Brightin Star Debuts New 35mm f/1.7 M-Mount Lens, Now on Kickstarter

Brightin Star has released its new APO 35mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens, specifically designed for Leica M-Mount cameras, initially unveiled at CP+ 2026. This sleek optical device marks the brand's second entry into the M-Mount market, following its 28mm f/2.8 Pancake lens. The versatile 35mm f/1.7 ASPH. can be easily adapted for use with a wide range of camera systems, including Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, Fujifilm X, Fujifilm GFX, and L-Mount, showcasing its broad compatibility.

This manual focus lens features an impressive 307-degree focus throw, allowing for precise adjustments, and can achieve a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters. While supporting rangefinder coupling, its close-focusing distance typically defaults to 0.7 meters. However, photographers can leverage the closer distance when using a Leica M-Mount camera with live view or when adapted to other systems. The lens, presented in a classic black finish, is compact, measuring 43 millimeters in length and weighing 266 grams.

Internally, the Brightin Star APO 35mm f/1.7 ASPH. is constructed with 11 elements in seven groups, including six aspherical surfaces. Its apochromatic design, indicated by "APO" in its name, ensures superior control over chromatic aberrations, delivering sharp and clear images. Part of Brightin Star's new "Apex" series, this lens embodies a commitment to "precision without compromise," a culmination of over two years of dedicated development. It seamlessly blends the classic aesthetic of M lenses with cutting-edge optical and mechanical engineering. Currently, the lens is available for pre-order on Kickstarter at a discounted price of $759, a 37% reduction from its eventual retail price of $1,199, with shipping anticipated to commence in November.

The innovation within the photography industry continues to push boundaries, offering creatives ever more powerful tools to capture their visions. This new lens exemplifies the dedication to merging traditional craftsmanship with modern optical advancements, ensuring photographers can achieve exceptional image quality and precision. Such developments empower artists to explore new perspectives and elevate their craft, demonstrating a vibrant future for photographic expression.
