Capture One's Advanced Wireless Tethering Now Accessible on Mobile Devices for Canon Cameras

Capture One has introduced its second-generation wireless tethering capability for Canon cameras to its mobile application, claiming speeds on par with traditional wired connections. This advancement, initially rolled out for desktop versions in late May, is now available for mobile users, fulfilling a high demand from the photographic community.

This sophisticated wireless tethering feature is exclusively compatible with Canon's flagship mirrorless cameras, the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II. Capture One emphasizes that prior wireless tethering solutions often proved inadequate for professional demands, frequently incurring delays of 20 seconds or more for image previews. However, this new iteration drastically reduces that wait, allowing editable RAW files to appear on connected devices in less than a second, maintaining all edits during the background transfer of full-resolution files. The mobile version retains all functionalities present in its desktop counterpart, operating efficiently over standard Wi-Fi networks without relying on Bluetooth or cloud services, and includes automatic reconnection and image preservation features.

Rafael Orta, CEO of Capture One, highlighted that achieving reliable wireless tethering for professional use has been a long-standing goal. He noted that bringing this technology to mobile was a direct response to user requests, allowing photographers greater freedom to adjust angles and compositions without the encumbrance of cables. The feature, part of Capture One Mobile version 3.3.X since July 15, is accessible to current subscribers and those with perpetual licenses for version 16.8 or newer.
