Haruomi Hosono's Upcoming Release: 'Yours Sincerely'
The esteemed 78-year-old artist, Haruomi Hosono, an integral part of the legendary Yellow Magic Orchestra, is poised to launch his 23rd full-length album. Titled 'Yours Sincerely,' this new collection of works is scheduled for release on September 11 under the Ghostly International label. This album follows his 2019 offering, 'Hochono House,' and promises a continued exploration of his unique musical vision.
Exploring the Essence of 'Omoiyari' in Music
Hosono revealed that the inspiration behind the album's title, 'Yours Sincerely,' originated from his contemplation of the Japanese term 'omoiyari.' He elaborated that while the phrase typically translates to 'to suffer together,' in a broader Japanese context, it also encompasses the joy of shared experiences. He noted the subtle yet fundamental differences in perspective and emotional depth inherent in this concept.
A Musician's Reflective Journey: Embracing Past and Future
At 78 years old, Hosono expressed an increasing curiosity for the uncharted musical territories he aims to explore, alongside a deep appreciation for his previous works. He articulated a sense of carrying two distinct musical realms within him, suggesting a blend of nostalgic reverence and innovative aspiration that will define his future creative output.
