Laila Gohar Infuses Rocco's Beverage Fridge with Whimsical Charm

Artist Laila Gohar, renowned for her innovative approach to culinary experiences, has consistently pushed the boundaries of art, design, fashion, and hospitality. Her distinctive food installations, often showcased in prominent galleries and cultural centers, elevate the act of hosting into a captivating narrative. Through her work, Gohar encourages a re-evaluation of daily food rituals, presenting them as immersive and artistic endeavors with unexpected ingredients and imaginative tablescapes.
This interdisciplinary philosophy, centered on hosting as an art form, has led Gohar to a notable collaboration. Boutique home appliance manufacturer Rocco sought Gohar's artistic vision to develop a distinctive 'Black Mirror' finish for their flagship Super Smart Fridge. Gohar's keen eye, known for its blend of playfulness and sophistication, has imbued the appliance with an aesthetic that harmonizes seamlessly with her personal style. The production of each 'Black Mirror' fridge is a meticulous 18-day process, employing automotive finishing techniques that include high-quality lacquer, ceramic coating, a three-stage polishing regimen, and a final waxing. This intricate craftsmanship results in an ultra-reflective, piano-black surface, transforming the refrigerator from a mere kitchen utility into an elegant piece of furniture.
The Rocco beverage refrigerator, now enhanced with the 'Black Mirror' finish, is designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind. It boasts an ultra-quiet, high-performance compressor, distinctive deco-inspired half-bullnose edges, and isolated temperature zones, along with a custom rack system tailored for various bottle types. Its recessed top tray serves as an ideal space for preparing drinks or showcasing glassware, making it a focal point for social gatherings. Designed to resemble a sophisticated dresser with an elevated body and extended legs, the Rocco Fridge is effortlessly portable and adapts beautifully to diverse interior designs, whether in intimate or expansive settings. To further complement the launch, Gohar and her sister, Nadia, under their Gohar World homewares brand, created a bespoke coupe glass. Its fluted design subtly mirrors the fridge's semi-translucent glass door, and a striking campaign featuring the sisters as mirror-image alter egos underscores the collection's whimsical duality. This partnership exemplifies how a utilitarian object can be transformed into an integral part of a grander ritual, where the art of entertaining is as thoughtfully curated as the environment itself.
This collaboration between Laila Gohar and Rocco is a testament to the power of design to elevate everyday objects into works of art. It reminds us that even the most functional items can be infused with creativity and personality, enriching our lives and enhancing our daily experiences. By blending artistry with utility, Gohar encourages a more mindful and joyful approach to our surroundings, promoting the idea that beauty and functionality can coexist harmoniously in every aspect of our lives.
