Pulp Unveils Documentary Trailer for 'What Do You Do for an Encore?'

Pulp has launched the first preview for their upcoming film, 'What Do You Do for an Encore?', a documentary that delves into the Britpop group's 2025 comeback tour. The trailer features the band's iconic track 'Common People' and offers a blend of historical footage alongside scenes from their recent performances supporting the album 'More'.

Frontman Jarvis Cocker, who also narrates the film, reflects on the band's journey, stating that their real-life experiences have been more remarkable than anything he could have conceived. Director Garth Jennings, known for his work on 'Sing' and 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', previously collaborated with Pulp on their music videos for 'Help The Aged' and 'A Little Soul'. The documentary is scheduled to debut exclusively on Mubi on September 25, with a special one-night theatrical screening across America on September 24. Mubi describes the film as an exploration of Pulp's transformation from Sheffield outsiders to renowned cultural figures, featuring twenty songs from their 2025 concerts.

Jennings expressed his excitement about capturing Pulp's reunion, highlighting the joy the band's return brought him during a challenging period. He drew inspiration from a line in their song 'This Is Hardcore'—'What exactly do you do for an encore?'—to shape the narrative of the film, which documents the band's unexpected resurgence.

This film is a testament to the enduring power of music and the profound connections artists forge with their audience. It celebrates perseverance, the joy of rediscovery, and the unique ability of art to inspire and uplift, reminding us that true passion can transcend time and expectation.
