One of the primary criticisms of the initial Sharge Disk Pro was its audible cooling fan. The Disk Pro 2 introduces a revamped “Ice Storm” fan, boasting an increased rotational speed of up to 12,000 RPM. This isn't just about raw power; the fan integrates smart temperature management. It actively prevents heat buildup rather than reacting to it, maintaining optimal SSD temperatures. A notable enhancement is the ability to completely deactivate the fan, providing silence when required, a feature absent in the original model.

The new cooling system in the Disk Pro 2 operates with greater intelligence. It automatically adjusts fan speed based on the SSD's real-time temperature. For instance, the fan runs at a reduced 5,400 RPM when the SSD temperature is below 122 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees Celsius) and completely deactivates below 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius). This intelligent control ensures consistent performance and extends the lifespan of the device, preventing overheating even during intensive use or when placed on various surfaces.
Expandable Storage Solutions: User-Replaceable SSD and Broad Compatibility
A significant upgrade in the Disk Pro 2 is the inclusion of a user-swappable internal SSD, supporting up to 8TB of storage. This flexibility allows users to customize their storage capacity according to their needs, a departure from the fixed SSD in the previous model. Furthermore, the device now supports both M.2 and B&M NVMe SSDs, broadening its compatibility and utility for a wider range of storage preferences, though it is sold without pre-installed storage during its crowdfunding phase.
