Introducing the Simera-C 16mm T1.9: Thypoch's New Ultra-Wide Full-Frame Cinema Prime
Thypoch has officially unveiled a fresh addition to its Simera-C family of cost-effective, compact cinema prime lenses: the Simera-C 16mm T1.9. This new lens distinguishes itself as Thypoch's widest full-frame cinema prime yet, catering to the evolving demands of modern cinematography.
Expanding the Simera-C Series: A Brief History and Future Prospects
The Chinese lens manufacturer Thypoch first launched its Simera-C series in October 2024, initially offering 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm prime lenses. A 21mm prime is also slated for release, further broadening the series' capabilities. The introduction of the 16mm T1.9 model significantly extends the range, providing filmmakers with even more creative options.
Unmatched Performance: Optical Prowess and Lightweight Design
While all six Simera-C lenses feature rapid apertures, the newly launched 16mm T1.9 is the most expansive, yet with a T1.9 aperture, it remains remarkably swift within the cinema lens landscape. Thypoch highlights the lens's "near-zero distortion in a feather-light construction," ensuring superior optical clarity and ease of handling. The lens boasts 15 elements arranged in 11 groups and a 16-bladed aperture diaphragm, all contributing to an impressive 43.2-millimeter image circle.
Ergonomics and Compatibility: Designed for the Modern Filmmaker
The Simera-C 16mm T1.9 is the longest in its series, measuring under 70 millimeters (2.7 inches) for the M-Mount version and 79.3 millimeters (3.1 inches) for the E-mount. Despite its length, it maintains a lightweight profile, weighing 467 grams (16.5 ounces) for M-mount and 490 grams (17.3 ounces) for E-mount. Consistent with the Simera-C lineup, it features a 67-millimeter (2.6-inch) front diameter and a 210-degree focus throw, ensuring smooth and precise control. The M-Mount version offers extensive adaptability with various modern filmmaking cameras, including PL-Mount Arri, Canon RF, Nikon Z, L-Mount, and even DJI Zenmuse gimbal cameras.
Aesthetic Consistency: Maintaining Visual Harmony Across Projects
Unlike many contemporary cinema lenses, the Simera-C series is meticulously engineered to minimize aberrations and deliver consistently sharp, clean images across the entire frame. Each lens in the series ensures a uniform aesthetic and performance, guaranteeing that filmmakers can achieve a cohesive look when integrating multiple Simera-C lenses into their productions.
