Singer Bonnie Tyler is currently in a hospital in Faro, Portugal, following an urgent surgical procedure. Her representatives have provided an update on her condition and addressed circulating rumors.

Bonnie Tyler: A Resilient Voice in Recovery

The Unforeseen Medical Emergency

The celebrated vocalist, Bonnie Tyler, best known for her powerful hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart," is presently receiving medical care in a Faro hospital. This follows an emergency intestinal operation performed last week. Despite the seriousness of her condition, she is reported to be in a stable state.

An Optimistic Medical Outlook

An official statement released on Bonnie Tyler's website on Tuesday, May 12, confirmed her current health status. Her medical team remains optimistic, anticipating a complete recovery for the singer, despite the critical nature of her recent surgical intervention.

Setting the Record Straight: Dispelling Falsehoods

Tyler's family expressed their distress regarding widespread "sensational and inaccurate reports" in the media. They specifically refuted claims made by an individual named Liberto Mealha, who falsely presented himself as a close associate. The family unequivocally stated that Mr. Mealha does not represent them and has no direct communication with them regarding Bonnie's health.

A Plea for Privacy and Respect

The official statement concluded with a request for media discretion, urging an end to speculation and the dissemination of baseless rumors. Such reports, they emphasized, cause unnecessary distress to her loved ones and fans. They reiterated their appeal for privacy and empathy during this challenging period.

Post-Surgery Developments and Tour Status

Last Wednesday, May 6, Tyler's team initially announced her hospitalization and successful emergency surgery, stating she was "recuperating." However, a subsequent update two days later revealed that doctors had placed her in an "induced coma to aid her recovery." The latest update did not specify if she remains in the coma. Tyler's upcoming European tour, celebrating her 50-year recording career, is mostly unaffected, though a May 22 performance in Malta has been cancelled. The tour is slated to commence on May 30 in Wiesmoor, Germany.
