Faced with an overwhelming collection of Lego bricks, brothers Matt, an engineer, Ben, a nano-scientist, and Geoffrey, an LSE graduate, collaborated to devise a solution. Their design emphasizes both functionality and a contemporary aesthetic, transforming a mundane storage problem into an opportunity for thoughtful design. The units are manufactured in Cardigan, Wales, and are constructed from FSC-certified birch plywood, available in either painted finishes (cream or black) or a natural oak veneer, ensuring both environmental responsibility and visual appeal.
At the heart of the Brickle sorter's ingenuity is its clever internal mechanism. Each unit features a smooth top surface that doubles as a building platform, equipped with several rectangular slots for easily depositing Lego bricks. Below this, four meticulously designed drawers facilitate the sorting process. The two central drawers are perforated with arrays of medium and small holes, allowing bricks to fall through based on their dimensions. The Brickle units are available in two distinct sizes to accommodate different collection magnitudes: a larger model, measuring approximately a meter wide, 65cm deep, and 56cm high, capable of holding up to 15kg of Lego (roughly 10,000 to 18,000 pieces); and a smaller 'Bach' unit, which is 63cm wide but maintains the same height and depth, designed for about 9kg of Lego.
