Devo and The B-52's Extend Their "Cosmic De-Evolution" Tour with New Dates

Devo and The B-52's have unveiled an expansion to their ongoing “Cosmic De-Evolution Tour,” incorporating an additional eight performances. These newly announced stops will take the co-headlining spectacle to major venues and arenas across North America, including cities like Seattle, Vancouver, and Grand Rapids, among others. This announcement follows their recent engagements in London and Manchester, suggesting a continued active touring schedule for both legendary groups, despite previous indications of winding down.
Both bands have been notable for their extended farewell tours, reminiscent of other artists who have prolonged their touring careers, such as Bob Dylan. Devo initially declared their final tour in 2023, subsequently adding more dates as recently as February of the current year. Similarly, The B-52's began promoting their concerts as a farewell tour in 2022. Fred Schneider of The B-52's commented on their touring approach, stating their willingness to perform in specific circumstances that avoid the demanding aspects of extensive travel, after previously announcing a retirement from major tours but an openness to individual gigs and festivals. Since then, the band has undertaken a lengthy residency in Las Vegas and performed numerous shows across North America and Europe.
This prolonged touring trend by established artists like Devo and The B-52's underscores a dedication to their craft and their fanbase, illustrating that the passion for live performance can transcend initial plans for retirement. It highlights the enduring appeal of their music and the desire of audiences to experience these iconic acts firsthand, offering a vibrant example of musical longevity and artistic commitment.
