The Durutti Column Announces New Album "Renascent" and Releases Single "Liars"

The Durutti Column, the esteemed Manchester musical collective, has confirmed the upcoming release of their latest album, "Renascent," scheduled for July 31 under the London Records label. This announcement comes on the heels of the successful re-release of their seminal debut record. Fans can now experience a new track from the album, "Liars," which offers a preview of their evolving sound. The visual artistry for the album's cover is a collaboration between Mark Holt and Hamish Muir of 8vo, celebrated for their distinctive designs associated with Factory Records, the band's original label.
Led by the visionary Vini Reilly, and featuring the consistent talents of percussionist Bruce Mitchell and player-producer Keir Stewart, the band's return to the studio marks a period of increasing acclaim for their musical contributions. Their work has recently received notable endorsements from contemporary artists, including Frank Ocean, Yung Lean, and Harry Styles. Reilly, in his characteristic understated manner, humorously acknowledged the mention by Harry Styles, stating he would have to look him up. The new LP will also showcase collaborations with guest artists such as Caoilfhionn Rose, who is also slated to perform in a Durutti Column tribute at the Styles-curated Meltdown Festival in London next month. This album signifies their first collection of new original material since "A Paean to Wilson" in 2010.
"Renascent" is more than just a new album; it's a testament to the enduring creativity and artistic resilience of The Durutti Column. Their ability to consistently produce innovative music while remaining true to their distinctive style serves as an inspiration to artists across generations. The continued recognition from diverse musical figures underscores their timeless influence and the universal appeal of their sound, proving that authentic artistic expression transcends trends and continues to resonate deeply within the cultural landscape.
