Key Executives Depart Pace Gallery Amidst Major Restructuring

In the wake of substantial organizational changes and a series of staff reductions, Pace Gallery is experiencing further shifts in its leadership. Two pivotal executives, Amelia Redgrift, the Chief Communications Officer, and Dani Forest Brandi, a Senior Sales Director, have tendered their resignations. These departures signify a continued transformation within the globally recognized art institution, as both individuals are poised to assume new leadership positions in other cultural and artistic enterprises.

The resignations follow closely on the heels of a major restructuring initiated by Pace Gallery's CEO, Marc Glimcher, merely two months prior. This strategic overhaul involved the termination of approximately 50 employees and a reduction in the gallery's artist roster. Glimcher characterized these measures as essential adjustments after a period of aggressive expansion. Notably, neither Redgrift nor Forest Brandi were part of the initial wave of layoffs, underscoring the voluntary nature of their exits.

Amelia Redgrift played an indispensable role in shaping Pace Gallery's public image and strategic communications for six years. Joining in late 2019, shortly after the opening of Pace's new Chelsea headquarters, Redgrift was instrumental in modernizing the gallery's brand. Her work helped redefine Pace's identity, moving it beyond a traditional dealership to that of a prominent cultural institution, with a stronger editorial presence and a broader public engagement. She spearheaded numerous high-profile campaigns, including collaborations on the Don Marron collection and the launch of new initiatives, while also overseeing the gallery's expansion into burgeoning art markets globally, such as Seoul, Tokyo, and London.

Dani Forest Brandi's journey at Pace Gallery also demonstrates remarkable career progression. Starting as Glimcher's executive assistant, she ascended through the ranks to become his chief of staff before transitioning into sales, ultimately achieving the position of senior sales director. Her contributions were acknowledged by Glimcher, who praised her dynamism and significant impact over eight years, hinting at continued collaboration in a new capacity.

Both executives experienced parallel career growth, particularly after a 2021 investigation into workplace culture led to a leadership reshuffle. At that time, Redgrift was promoted to Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, and Forest Brandi became Chief of Staff, as the gallery introduced a new executive framework. While their future roles are yet to be officially announced, Forest Brandi indicated that her new position would be revealed in September, expressing gratitude for her time at Pace and eagerness to apply her experience in her next endeavor.

This latest development highlights a significant recalibration for Pace Gallery. Once focused on aggressive expansion, opening new locations, and experimenting with digital platforms like Web3, the gallery's current trajectory appears to be one of consolidation and strategic realignment. The communications department, in particular, has seen considerable downsizing through multiple layoff rounds.
