It's now available with various pre-installed capacities, from 4TB to a substantial 32TB, utilizing advanced all-NVMe flash storage.

OWC Express 4M2 Ultra: Redefining High-Performance Storage for Creative Workflows

In a significant stride for data storage technology, Other World Computing (OWC) has officially released the Express 4M2 Ultra. This groundbreaking Thunderbolt 5 NVMe RAID solution is poised to revolutionize data management for creative professionals. Boasting real-world speeds of up to 6622 MB/s, the Express 4M2 Ultra offers an unparalleled performance boost essential for tasks such as editing 12K RAW video, managing complex 8K multi-camera sequences, and processing vast collections of high-resolution RAW images. OWC emphasizes that this product provides creative teams and studios with an optimal blend of massive all-flash NVMe capacity, reliable SoftRAID-managed redundancy, and the dramatically improved workflow efficiency afforded by Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth. While its peak performance is realized with Thunderbolt 5, the device maintains impressive speeds of 3200 MB/s even when connected via Thunderbolt 4 on older Mac systems or USB4 on PCs, ensuring broad compatibility without significant compromise. Larry O'Connor, Founder and CEO of OWC, highlighted the company's philosophy: “We have always believed that technology should adapt to the way people work… not the other way around.” He added that while the Express 4M2 Ultra began as a DIY Thunderbolt 5 RAID platform, customers now have the flexibility to choose pre-configured solutions with OWC Aura Ultra SSDs, guaranteeing “exceptional, OWC Certified performance on day one… right out of the box.” Available capacities include 4TB, 8TB, 16TB, and 32TB. The enclosure itself starts at $450, with an option for SoftRAID software pre-installation at $580. Pre-configured units range from $2,400 for the 4TB model to $10,300 for the 32TB version. The OWC Express 4M2 Ultra is now available for purchase, targeting production companies, creative studios, video editors, colorists, and any professional requiring top-tier speed and performance.

The launch of the OWC Express 4M2 Ultra underscores a pivotal shift in the demands of creative industries for increasingly robust and rapid data solutions. The continuous evolution of high-resolution content, from cinematic productions to intricate visual effects, necessitates storage technologies that can keep pace with vast data streams. This new device not only addresses the immediate needs of handling large files and complex projects but also sets a new benchmark for speed and efficiency in professional workflows. Its adaptability across different Thunderbolt and USB standards, while maximizing performance with the latest Thunderbolt 5, reflects a thoughtful design that prioritizes user experience and future-proofing. For professionals, this innovation means less time waiting for data transfers and more time focusing on creative endeavors, ultimately enhancing productivity and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in digital content creation.
