The Avalanches Announce New Album 'No Bad Memories' and Release New Single

Australian music collective The Avalanches have officially declared the upcoming release of their new record, titled No Bad Memories, scheduled for October 16 under the Modular label. This announcement follows a series of single releases and is accompanied by a fresh track, “Can’t Get Over Losing You,” which features Portraits of Tracy and comes with an engaging animated visual directed by Jonathan Zawada.
The group conveyed their deep appreciation for Portraits of Tracy, describing Tracy as an incredibly humorous, resilient, and compassionate individual with whom they have developed a strong bond through their collaborative musical journey. They lauded Tracy's production and mixing skills as extraordinary, but it is her vocal artistry and songwriting that consistently move them, recognizing her as a generational talent. The Avalanches expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to create music together.
In a related press statement, The Avalanches disclosed that No Bad Memories delves into the realms of advertising jingles, commercials, and the broader landscape of marketing. The extensive album features 31 tracks and is their first full-length project since 2020's We Will Always Love You. This six-year interval, while notable, is significantly shorter than the lengthy hiatus between their seminal 2000 debut, Since I Left You, and their 2016 return, Wildflower. The full tracklist for No Bad Memories remains largely undisclosed, with only a few collaborative titles revealed so far, including contributions from Karen O, Jamie xx, Jessy Lanza, Nikki Nair, and Prentiss.
The Avalanches continue to innovate within the electronic music landscape, crafting sonic narratives that blend nostalgic elements with contemporary sounds. Their dedication to exploring unique themes, such as the pervasive influence of marketing jingles, highlights their artistic ambition and ability to transform unexpected sources into compelling musical experiences. This latest offering is poised to be another testament to their creative ingenuity, inviting listeners on a journey through meticulously sampled soundscapes and heartfelt collaborations.
